Data Observability and Quality Engineer

About the Role

The Data Observability and Quality Engineer will be a key player in ensuring the reliability and trustworthiness of Workday’s data. The Data Quality Engineer will leverage their technical expertise to implement and maintain solutions that enhance our ability to observe the behavior of our data and ensure its quality throughout its lifecycle.

Job Duties :

Develop and maintain data quality metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), and monitoring dashboards to track data health and identify trends, enabling proactive identification of potential issues.

Collaborate with data and analytics engineers to embed data quality checks and observability tools into data pipelines and data products, ensuring data integrity from source to consumption.

Develop and maintain documentation related to data observability processes, data quality standards, and monitoring procedures, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices across the organization.

Configure data observability solutions to monitor data pipelines, identify anomalies, and ensure data quality across various systems, with a focus on automation and scalability.

Quickly diagnose and address data issues, working closely with engineering teams to investigate root causes, implement sustainable solutions, and prevent future occurrences.

About You

Basic Qualifications :

• 3+ years of experience in data engineering, data quality, or a related role.
• 2+ years of experience implementing data monitoring or observability solutions.
• Strong understanding of data quality principles, methodologies, and best practices.
• Experience with data profiling, data validation, and data testing techniques.
• Proficiency in SQL and data analysis, with experience in writing complex queries.
• Experience working with data pipelines and data warehousing concepts, including ETL processes.
