Snowflake Database Administrator

The Snowflake Database Administrator (DBA) position is pivotal in ensuring the optimal performance, security, and reliability of databases within the Snowflake Data Cloud platform. The successful candidate will be responsible for various tasks including database setup and configuration, performance monitoring and tuning, data security and compliance, backup and disaster recovery, cost management, user management and support, as well as collaboration and documentation.
Responsibilities :
- Configure warehouses, databases, and other Snowflake objects.
- Ensure optimal configuration settings for performance and cost-efficiency.
- Monitor the performance of Snowflake environments.
- Execute performance tuning strategies to optimize query execution and resource utilization.
- Implement and manage security measures within Snowflake.
- Manage data encryption, access controls, and network policies to protect sensitive information.
- Plan and manage disaster recovery strategies.
- Ensure data retention policies align with business requirements.
- Monitor and optimize Snowflake credit usage to control costs.
- Advise on cost-effective use of Snowflake features and resources.
- Manage user accounts, roles, and access privileges.
- Ensure secure and appropriate access to the database.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and IT teams to support data-related activities.
- Document database schemas, configurations, procedures, and best practices.
Technical Skills Required :
3-5 years of Snowflake experience.Strong understanding of Snowflake's architecture, including virtual warehouses, databases, roles, and security features.Proficient in SQL for querying and managing Snowflake databases.Skills in query performance tuning and resource optimization in a cloud environment.Experience with DB tools such as DBT and SQLDBM is a plus.Knowledge of best practices in data security, encryption, and compliance within cloud environments (e.g. GDPR, StateRAMP, FedRAMP).Familiarity with cloud services, particularly those related to data storage and computation, and an understanding of cloud cost management.Ability to troubleshoot and resolve database issues efficiently.2-5 years of experience with Db2 and / or PostgreSQL.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Excellent communication skills are required.Certifications specific to Snowflake, such as the Snowflake SnowPro Core Certification, are a plus.If you have the experience, technical skills, and motivation to tackle the challenges of managing databases on the Snowflake Data Cloud platform, we invite you to join us.
