Manufacturing Engineer III (Ultrasonic Specialist)
Location : San Rafael, Alajuela, Costa Rica
Reports to : Manufacturing Engineering Manager
Supervises : Technicians, Engineers I and II
Summary :
ATL Technology is seeking a highly experienced Manufacturing Engineer III to lead continuous improvement initiatives, process validations, and provide technical support in a medical manufacturing environment. This role is critical to ensuring operational efficiency, product quality, and regulatory compliance, working closely with cross-functional teams and leading complex technical projects. Specialized in Ultrasonic Welding.
Key Responsibilities :
- Supervise and mentor Level I and II engineers
- Provide daily production support, including troubleshooting and process evaluation
- Document IQ / OQ / PQ process validations
- Lead CAPA, SCAR, NCMR, and pFMEA activities
- Conduct root cause analysis (Ishikawa, 5 Whys)
- Drive continuous improvement in production lines (cost, time, quality)
- Lead process validations and transfers
- Coordinate engineering changes (ECNs)
- Collaborate with quality, design, purchasing, and suppliers
- Participate in internal and external audits
- Lead global improvement initiatives (OEE, scrap, yield)
- Perform technical evaluations of suppliers
- Propose and execute manufacturing strategies
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Specialized in Ultrasonic Welding.
Qualifications & Knowledge :
7+ years of relevant experienceBachelor's or Licentiate degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Electromechanical, Chemical, Physics, or related fields)Advanced English (corporate and supplier communication)Technical training in Lean Manufacturing, Black Belt, SolidWorks, PMICertifications : ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820Master's degree preferred for technical leadership rolesExperience in component design for plastic injection molding, metal stamping / forming, and electromechanical devicesProficient in engineering drawings interpretation (GD&T, tolerances)Skilled in documentation : BOMs, SOPs, ECNsKnowledge of key processes : molding, plastics, SMT, automation, welding, assemblyExperience with full validation cycles (FAT / SAT, IQ / OQ / PQ)Proficient in statistical analysis : Minitab, SPC, DOE, CpKFamiliar with Lean Six Sigma toolsExperience leading technical projects in automation, ramp-up, and validationsAdvanced data analysis and robust experimental designCAPEX project management and new line introductionsFinancial analysis : ROI, NPV, IRR, cash flowsSpecialized in Ultrasonic Welding.About ATL Technology :
